I dont recall much of Altered States. I watched it only once, several years ago, in a period of my life where I was also on a Altered State most of the time. That may explain it!

The devils is my favorite, along with the Lair of the White Worm and Salome.

I really appreciate Russell strangely surreal style.

The Devils was one of Ken Russell's better films, along with Altered States and Lair of the Whit Worm. But this film is earlier, from the same time he did Women in Love, also with Oliver Reed. I need to find this online and promote it myself. I loved this film but simply forgot all about it. Thanks for the reminder.

I went through a period where I watched almost everything Ken Russell ever made. I recall the films I liked the most were Altered States, Lair of the White Worm and The Witches. The witches from about the same time, I think, he did a film version of D.H. Lawrence's Women in Love, also with Oliver Reed. His films from this time were less abstract than they would later become. I recall I loved this film but have not seen it in over ten years. Time to find it and check it out once more.
