Ce remake hollywoodien d'un classique de 1951, comme la plupart des remakes, offre une affriolante copie de l'original avec des effets spéciaux vertigineux et des acteurs de renoms, mais une totale annihilation de ce qui faisait, au départ, d'intérêt du film original.
Là où le concept devait, idéalement, donner matière a questionnement sur l'agissement de la race humaine, l'environnement et tous ces sujets à la fois tabous et d'actualité, le film se complait à n'être que matière à manger du popcorn en s'extasiant devant devant des CGI qui seront, dans à peine quelques années, des reliques du passé.
Pourtant, l'original - bien qu'aillant définitivement souffert des affres du temps - offre encore un minimum de matière a réflexions.
This is a hoolywoodian remake of a cult classic from 1951. As most remake, it offers a grandiloquent copy with amazing CGI effect and renowned actors but with a total annihilation of everything that makes the original an interesting movie in the first place.
Where the concept should be something to make us think about life, ecology and the fate of the human race it barely makes us think about getting some popcorn and say: "wow" while watching special effect who will be outdated some years from now.
Not that the original was so much of a great movie but, at least, it was better than this crap.

Ivy and I watched this last night together. Not a great film but a good one to watch with the wife. Like you said the first film was a decent film though not perfect. The environmental message in the remake i could have lived without.

C’est incroyable comme ce film ne me donne pas envie et pourtant j’aime la SF. C’est peut être car je boycotte tous les films qui veulent mettre en avant une morale écologique. On a compris que la terre allait mal, on est peut être pas obligé de faire 150000 films sur le sujet.
Enfin, je regarderai quand même ce film quand il passera à la télé.
